I’ve stayed in many hotels and airbnbs in Puerto Escondido, La Punta, each with their distinct personality and pros and cons. The neighborhood of La Punta is growing extremely fast, and many new accommodation options are popping up, but I’m always searching for the perfect balance of design, location, value, and comfort. Casa Baba La Punta hotel is now my go-to recommendation. With its lush leafy common areas, beautiful pool, clean minimalist design with natural details, and super convenient location, this is a perfect spot to base yourself in La Punta.

Sleek Minimalist Design in Puerto Escondido, La Punta
The design of Casa Baba La Punta hotel is fresh, sleek, clean and minimalist, with just enough touches of natural wood, palm, and textiles to warm the space.
The building is a 3 story white structure with balconies wrapping all around. Wood branch railings line the stairwells, and carizzo (similar to bamboo) accents can be found here and there.
The rooms are clean white surfaces and corners, with woven basket lamps, wooden shutters and bathroom door, stone accents in the floor, a small woven Oaxacan rug, and leafy plant to balance out the minimalism.
There are also several shelves to store your suitcase and clothing, plus a full length mirror which I always appreciate.
Delicious Pool: La Punta Hotel Casa Baba
In my opinion, a pool is almost essential in Puerto Escondido. Some of the beaches are swimmable, but several are not. La Punta is on the borderline – there are some people that swim here, but others (like me) who feel the current is too strong. Therefore, having a pool at your hotel is a great way to cool off and get your fill of swimming.
It’s also a great option to jump in when you get up in the morning or in the evening. It’s a beautiful and large pool, and surrounded by comfy areas to hang out in this La Punta hotel.
Beautiful and Leafy Common Areas in Puerto Escondido, La Punta
Casa Baba has lots of beautiful areas to hang out in Puerto Escondido, La Punta. Hammocks swing on the balconies outside the rooms. There are a couple of large beds with cushions at the edge of the pool with the shade of umbrellas (I worked from there once or twice). Acapulco chairs with woven Oaxacan pillows are here and there, and a huge hammock swings under a flowering tree.
Lots of beautiful flowers and plants dot the entryways and around the common areas. Some large palms line the property as well.
Shared Kitchen with Beautiful Table: La Punta Hotel Casa Baba
If you want to make some meals during your stay in Puerto Escondido, La Punta, or whip up some cocktails, you have access to the open air shared kitchen at Casa Baba. There is also a large beautiful huanacaxtle (parota wood) table to enjoy. Free drinking water is always available.
Excellent Location in Puerto Escondido, La Punta
As I mentioned, La Punta is the fastest growing area of Puerto Escondido, and the place that some of the best restaurants, bars, and shops are popping up. Because of this La Punta is not always the most quiet area – construction is quite common right now, and the parts right next to the main strip can get loud during the night as people hit the town.
However, Casa Baba manages to be just 5 short blocks from the beachfront strip, yet feels tucked in a residential area. This is the quietest and most relaxed La Punta hotel I’ve stayed in. But you are just a 5 minute walk to any of the best things to do in La Punta.
Pet Friendly
Casa Baba is also a pet-friendly hotel in Puerto Escondido, La Punta. We traveled with our dog, and loved having her with us.
Views of the Beach and Town in Puerto Escondido, La Punta
From the top floor of Casa Baba, you have a sweeping view over the town of Puerto Escondido, as well as the beach of Zicatela. Even from the second floor, you can see over the jungle and rooftops and a bit of the coast, as well as the beautiful pool below.
Final Thoughts: Casa Baba
This lovely boutique hotel has such a great balance of important features, great design, comfort, value, and location. I would happily stay here any time I’m back in Puerto Escondido, La Punta.
